This workshop is a facilitated design day with Occidental Arts & Ecology Center Permaculture Program staff: Brock Dolman, Kendall Dunnigan and Vanessa Carter. Pre-Conference attendees will engage in a facilitated workshop that applies Permaculture Design Principles to a local farm case study. Based on this foundation, farmers will apply this design methodology to their own farm designs through a participatory process. OAEC invites farmers with farm systems (from gardens to broad-scale properties) to bring a map of their property and be guided through a whole system design method to create a design for their farm over the course of the day. Attendees without land will collaboratively support the design process of other participants.
Participants will develop a draft design, establish an implementation plan for moving forward, and receive comprehensive resources for funding, grants, business planning and further consultation. We are deeply dedicated to increasing access to the capital that allows for successful staged implementation of farmers’ resilient designs.
Farmers with land to design will be contacted by OAEC staff prior to the Pre-Conference in order to provide the necessary base map, site details and design goal outcomes. To indicate that you would like to design your own land, please check the appropriate box during the registration process.
This pre-conference is approved for 7 Crop Management CEUs for Certified Crop Advisors.
