Part-Time Hourly Position
Job Title: Marketing & Communications Associate
Scope of Work:
The Marketing & Communications Associate is an important member of the OGS Marketing & Communications Team. The person in this role is responsible for supporting media and resource management, customer service, program outreach, messaging, and fundraising with a particular focus on social media for the organization, as well as supporting the Director of Marketing in all aspects of OGS Marketing & Communications.
Hours: Average 20 hr/week, Part-time position
Compensation: Marketing & Communications Associate shall receive an hourly rate of $19-21/hour (depending on experience). Part-Time benefits include paid-time off, paid holidays, a wellness stipend, and a Simple IRA contribution.
Location: A combination of remote working from your home office and working in the OGS office in Asheville, NC when safe, appropriate, and desired. The ability to be present at various locations across Western NC throughout the year is required.
Tasks Include:
Communications & Marketing (60% of time):
Active participant on the Marketing & Communications Team.
Support creation, maintenance, and execution of Overall OGS marketing plan, style guide, and messaging to align with OGS’s mission and values.
Track and keep organized records of the performance of past advertising and social media ads/campaigns.
Oversee and grow new and existing social networks, including Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, etc., as well as publishing dashboards.
Create content for and manage OGS’s social media presence for relevance, reputation, regularity and brand consistency, and engage with constituents and influencers.
Coordinate marketing strategy and activities with Directors of Programs and Development regarding programs, fundraising events, campaigns, and other communications.
Manage and monitor regular posting schedule and assist with the promotions of events in online calendar listings and on social media.
Host and oversee special social media events, such as “Instagram Giveaways.”
Manage creation and distribution of bi-monthly OGS newsletter.
Assist with communications and execution of all fundraising campaign activities.
Work in collaboration with Director of Development to execute sponsor and funder deliverables (newsletter content, blogs, ads, etc.)
Provide customer service by managing, answering and distributing general organization & program inquiries and communications with customers and participants via email and phone to appropriate staff in a timely manner.
Media & Resource Management (30% of time):
Manage, edit, upload, and organize event photos.
Travel to assist with photography and videography at events as needed.
Help to create and edit, publish, and schedule weekly content (original text, reels, etc.).
Craft timely, relevant, and informative copy for the “evergreen resource” library and blog.
Coordinate with Program and Development staff the updating, printing and distribution of flyers and mailings for events.
OGS team responsibilities (10% of time):
Actively participate in OGS Staff meetings, and with the Board of Directors as needed.
Coordinate outreach at external workshops, conferences, and events to staff OGS exhibit tables and attend as able.
Required Experience:
Knowledge of and comfort with social media principles, practices, and the desire to apply that knowledge in a nonprofit environment; understand what social media audiences consume
Proven ability to create content; video production a plus
Excellent analytical and time-management skills, self-motivated
Proficient technical and computer skills; familiarity with Google Suite & Squarespace
Eagerness and comfortability learning new web-based project management software (Asana, Hubspot, etc.)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to learn and adhere to OGS’s brand standards and best marketing practices
Strong attention to detail, highly organized
Experience with SEO/Google Ads a plus
Strong interpersonal skills and experience with customer service
Experience working remotely
