Food Sovereignty in Tribal Communities

Panelists will explore the intersection of traditional foods, agriculture, health, and community among tribal communities. Workshop participants will learn what tribal communities are doing to increase access to and awareness of healthy, traditional, environmentally-responsible grown foods as well as ways in which traditional ecological knowledge can be used in partnership with local and state agencies to increase access to traditional foods. Speakers will encourage dialogue around concepts of "decolonizing the taste buds", the importance of bio-regionally adapted seeds, and the ways in which small scale agriculture can work hand-in-hand with traditional foods ways.
