Organic agriculture offers scientifically proven environmental, economic, and social benefits. To further build equity into our food system, we must expand access to organic foods for people of all races, ages, ethnicities, and socio-economic backgrounds. Our next generations deserve access to safe, nutritious organic food. By providing organic food to schoolchildren, we can improve markets for organic farmers to sell directly to school districts, offer nutritious food for young people, and educate our children about the importance of organic agriculture. The panelists will discuss legislative efforts to expand school access to organic food, grants for teachers to creatively educate about organic agriculture in their classrooms, and how organic stakeholders can expand access to organic food in their local communities.
