There is an immense need for women and womxn to come together for connection, training, sharing, mentoring, education and exploration in food and agriculture. We are calling for you to join us for this pre-conference to go deeper on important issues. This pre-conference builds on the momentum from the long running Women in Food and Agriculture Discussion Group & Mixer held at EcoFarm. The day will include panel presentations and guided discussion with speakers who are working at the forefront of food and agriculture, and then breakout groups where participants can take dialogue and connect on important issues such as empowerment, skill development, and social justice. In the afternoon, we will hear from another panel of speakers, and then divide into breakout groups again, and then come back together as a group for brainstorming on how to stay connected through the year. We will close with a walk to the beach for a grand finale of dancing and mingling by the ocean. This pre-conference is intended for those that identify as women or womxn. The term womxn is a more inclusive, progressive term that sheds light on the prejudice, discrimination, and institutional barriers womxn have faced, explicitly including transgender women and women of color.
