Frequently Asked Questions

Why do you have the Hoes Down?

The Hoes Down is a celebration of the end of the harvest season. After the long summer, farmers need to kick off their boots, kick up their heels, dance, and have a grand time with their family. The Hoes Down is also a fundraiser for over 30 local and regional community organizations.

What should I bring?

A water bottle, sun hat, sunscreen, flashlight if you plan to stay late, and camping equipment if you are camping.

What should I NOT bring?

PLEASE NO DOGS! (Cars containing dogs will be turned away - except official service dogs accompanied by a person with a disability.) No large RV’s or motor homes please. Tent-trailers are okay. PLEASE DO NOT BRING ALCOHOL to the Hoes Down.

What is the date?

The Hoes Down is always the FIRST WEEKEND in October. The next Hoes Down is on October 7, 2023.

How much does it cost?

Adults: $70 purchased here, there will be no tickets sold at the entrance.
Children (4-16): $25 each
Under 4: Free
Entry plus Saturday Night Camping (includes Sunday Morning Breakfast): $100 per person for adults and $35 for kids (4-16), kids 3 years old and under are free. No car camping, all camping will be tent camping in the walnut orchard

Can I volunteer?

Yes! Volunteers have the most fun – plus you get lots of perks! Please click here for more information on volunteering.

Is food included in the cost of admission?

The food at the Hoes Down is out of this world! It is sourced from the most amazing small, organic, family farms and ecologically and environmentally minded companies and is almost 100% organic. For menus, visit the Food page. Food is not included in the cost of admission, though admission does cover most other activities while at the festival, including the Children’s Area, Workshops, and Live Music! Food is incredibly reasonably priced, with dinner plates between $10 - $15

Is there an ATM?

Yes! We have an ATM on site.

Do I need to pre-register for Saturday’s workshops?

Nope. Saturday’s workshops are open to all festival attendees and are included with attendance.
