On-Farm Composting: Policy and Practice

This session will outline the policy changes that allow farmers to bring feedstocks onto their farms and make their own compost in most counties in California. Two farmers will discuss the nuts and bolts, including feedstock sources and costs as well as other aspects of their on-farm composting operations. Phil Foster has been composting near San Juan Bautista for many years on a significant scale, and Arthur Baker composts wine grape waste with other feedstocks near Healdsburg.
