On-Farm and Vocational Training Programs

This session is for those who want to develop or improve their on-farm education or vocational training programs. The Center for Agroecology & Sustainable Food Systems at UCSC is known internationally for its longstanding training program. Hear from garden instructor Sky DeMuro to learn more. Beth Waitkus of the Insight Garden Program (IGP) will share details about how IGP combines an innovative curriculum with vocational gardening and landscaping training to reconnect people in prison to self, community, and the natural world. Started in 2002 at San Quentin, it is currently at two other California state prisons and will expand to Los Angeles in 2016.
