Hear about the work of two Northern California food hubs that are building the infrastructure of a resilient food system to support small (and very small) farms, making local food economically viable. FEED Sonoma and the MendoLake Food Hub—both currently in transition to become grower-cooperatives—have seen substantial growth in the past few years. Together they serve more than 100 small farms and wholesale buyers, from the rugged and remote Mendocino Coast to the San Francisco Bay Area. A key partner in Mendocino County's work has been the Good Farm Fund, a volunteer-led community organization which, through diligent and creative fundraising, has awarded over $100,000 in capacity-building infrastructure grants directly to the region’s small farms.
