As policy initiatives and economic incentives begin to reward growers for soil carbon sequestration, skepticism remains as to the overall potential for mitigating climate change, as well as how different soils/climates will respond to different practices. Yet even in hot/dry California, long-term research indicates that managing for soil health has a strong potential to sequester carbon and, importantly, help with adaptation and resilience against climate change. Join us to discuss the latest scientific understanding around microbes and soil organic matter, challenges with measuring and modeling soil carbon, and the true potential of healthy soils.
