There have been some gains for farmworkers in the past several years, though there have also been enormous losses as farmworkers have been disproportionately affected by Covid-19 and state record-keeping indicates an increase in pesticide poisonings. Panelists will discuss new and needed policies for farmworkers and their families. The Center for Farmworker Families’ mission is to promote awareness about the difficult life circumstances of binational families while proactively inspiring improvements. Californians for Pesticide Reform (CPR) is a statewide coalition founded to fundamentally shift the way pesticides are used in California. CPR uses community organizing, litigation, community-based bio-monitoring and air monitoring, legislation, and media and policy work to eliminate the use of the worst pesticides, promote sustainable practices, reduce overall use of pesticides, and protect people’s right-to-know about pesticide use.
