Reconnecting Markets & Feeding Communities During COVID-19

The COVID-19 crisis disrupted markets for farmers across California, jeopardizing livelihoods, local economies and even forcing farmers to plow under crops. Several grassroots efforts quickly emerged to reconnect these broken supply chains. Hear from the farmers, food hubs and organizations that collaborated in the Spring of 2020 to shift sales from shuttered restaurants and cafeterias to new markets, buyers and emergency relief programs. From Hmong refugee farmers in the Central Valley, to a North Coast collective of small farms, to a Central Coast aggregator founded by and serving Latinx growers, learn how these diverse and resilient communities responded during unprecedented times, assuring that family farms can persevere another season.
