Asians and Asian-American farmers have played and continue to play a significant role in the agriculture sector in California, and yet their contributions are unknown and their voices are often non-existent or muted when it comes to food and farming. This interactive workshop features a panel of California farmers who represent a diversity of Asian ethnicities, ages and gender. The farmers will share their stories about how they got into farming and how farming connects with their cultural heritage. In addition, we will offer a mini-exhibition — a collection of historical and modern photos that show the contributions of Asians to farming in California.
