Black farmers in the US are faced with unique challenges surrounding land succession and ownership. Institutionalized racism and the manipulation of heirs property ownership have resulted in the loss of up to 60-90% of the farmland once owned by Black farmers. This session will provide historical perspectives, challenges, and solutions. Savonala "Savi" Horne is Executive Director of The Land Loss Prevention Project (LLPP). LLPP was founded in 1982 by the North Carolina Association of Black Lawyers to curtail epidemic losses of Black owned land in North Carolina.
