Contract Grazing in the Time of Fire

In this time of unprecedented wildfires across the West, it’s clear that wild and cultivated lands haven’t been managed to mitigate the risk of fire and we are all suffering for it. Join a panel of expert graziers to learn more about targeted grazing in the time of fire. Targeted grazing benefits land, ranchers and the public good. It restores pasture, builds fire resilience into the landscape, and presents a promising business opportunity for ranchers. If you are interested in land management and fire prevention or are a rancher thinking of branching out into contract grazing- this workshop is for you. Join UC Cooperative Extension advisor Dan Macon from Flying Mule Farm and targeted grazing practitioners Marie Hoff from Full Circle Wool, and Andree Soares from Star Creek Land Stewards, for a conversation about establishing and operating a successful targeted grazing business. Presenters will cover topics from business management to logistics and fuels reduction to weed management.
