Academic and activist Dr. Gail Myers has done a great deal to support Black farmers and other historically oppressed and marginalized farmers in California and elsewhere. She founded the Oakland Freedom Farmers Market, which brings traditional legacy foods from Black farmers and other socially disadvantaged farmers to the Bay Area. The goal is to provide affordable, fresh, non-GMO, organic, or pesticide-free produce and nutritional information, and to promote the consumption and benefits of plant-based foods. She is also the founder of Farms to Grow, Inc., the umbrella organization for the farmers market, and many other projects. Join Dr. Myers and a farmer panelist to learn about their work and the history of Black farmers in California and the U.S.
