Copper and Sulfur compounds are allowed in organic production but they are among the more problematic materials because of their non-specificity — their impacts on all soil organisms and beneficials — and other environmental issues. A host of new products with a biological base are promoting themselves as being more benign and equally effective as these elemental materials. This session will explore some of these new products and how they work. Some of the diseases which can be treated by these alternatives include powdery mildew, fire blight, late blight, and phytophthora.
