This panel discussion will highlight the politics of place, Indigenous rights, and land-based practices in historical, ecological, and cultural contexts. Our traditional ecological knowledge (TEK) is increasingly highlighted in the wake of various environmental catastrophes. Panelists will share critical perspectives and possibilities for ethical engagement with tribal groups, culturally rooted knowledge, and the ongoing moment of settler-colonial occupation. Composed of an intergenerational group of Indigenous women from throughout California, the panel will center the voices of cultural practitioners, educators, and mentees discussing their own lived experiences, inherited knowledge, and professional expertise.
