Insights from Farmers: Biodiversity Stories from the Field

Three farmers tell stories about how they partner with pollinators, pest-eating organisms and native plants to become more self-sufficient, conserve nature, and produce amazing food. Along the Central Coast, a farmer restores habitat that supports beneficial insects and rare plants while reducing erosion. In the Sacramento Valley, a rice farmer meets nature halfway, flooding fields for birds and salmon, and supporting monarchs on field edges. A Sonoma vineyard promotes long-term sustainability with farming practices that incorporate native habitat, believing that wine flavors are enhanced when the grapes are grown in an environment that retains an essence of its natural.
