Explore beginning farmer training models that integrate apprenticeships, mentorship, and farmer-to-farmer exchange. The speakers will share experiences and best practices and will evaluate various educational tools for experiential training, classroom learning and online curriculum. Topics will cover mentorship tools; legal considerations; balancing production and education demands in on-farm training; and learning resources that interweave ecological, socio-political and economic dimensions. The workshop will also look at program strategies and pedagogies that advance food justice, agroecology, and citizen science in combination with beginning farmer training.
