Urban Farms at the Forefront of Policy Change

Urban farms are cropping up everywhere—from nonprofits that work to educate city-dwellers and connect them to their food, to for-profits that supply restaurants and markets with the tiniest of food-mile footprints. These farms are not always welcome however, as existing laws work to exclude them and make operations difficult. From zoning to visual effects, from restrictions on sales to expensive water and intrusive neighbors, the urban farm has many issues to deal with. We’ll hear from two urban farmers who have worked for policy change to ensure that their farms can survive and even thrive.
