Organic farmers work to find systems that optimize their resources for a healthy and profitable farm. Collaborative on-farm research that can be replicated and shared is an especially powerful tool. These research projects can bring together farmers, scientists, and extension agents to answer a wide variety of farming questions. This workshop will cover the essentials for farmers who want to pursue research ideas or who are considering a participatory research project on their farm. How should you approach the conception and design of a project? Enlist support and collaboration from key players? Seek funding and prepare a proposal? Effectively conduct the research? Record and report the results? Successful projects will illustrate the process.
