Supporting Bees for a Sustainable Future

This workshop is for growers, practicing beekeepers, beginners, and all bee-lovers. The speakers will describe some techniques to improve bee health. Neal Williams will discuss the challenges facing bees in general within our agricultural landscapes, suggesting approaches that growers, beekeepers, and others can take to provide better forage and nutrition, bolstering healthy managed and wild bees. Michael Thiele will provide an introduction into biodynamic apiculture and a treatment-free, honeybee-centered approach. He will examine alternative hive designs, working with natural comb, biodynamic management techniques, core principles of bees’ instinctual needs, self-sustaining apiaries, design of honeybee sanctuaries and refuges, honeybee health, and more.
